3Fumes!
By SJ06830
Got these about 9 months ago and loved them at first. They are good for grabbing hot pans and moving them around. However, i would not recommend them if there’s a chance that they may get close to a direct flame or other intense heat source. I’ve used these to hold the handles on a cast iron frying pan while I cook. Quite a few times, the gloves will get a little too close to the cooking flame, the material will char, and noxious fumes and a black smoke will start rising. The fumes are unbearable and makes me want to clear out from the room. This has happened on cotton potholders in the past, but burning cotton is very different from burning synthetic neoprene releasing who-knows-what chemicals.

Pros:
- They are super cute – by far the most stylish pot holders I’ve seen.
- Fits small hands well.
- Opposable thumb design more logical and functional than many other glove-type pot holders with the thumb at the side of the palm. Hello!
- Grippy palm very useful for opening bottles and such.
- Excellent insulation

Cons:
- Scary fumes if used too close to an open flame!
- Too small for my husband’s hands. He can’t use these comfortably

5Great Mitts for your Mitts
By PR Pro
I do most of the BBQ-ing in our family – which goes far beyond the hotdog and hamburger thing. I cook everything on the grill in the summer,, and looked online at lots of BBQ mitts, for something that would be flexible enough to grab veggie baskets, fish baskets, tongs, spatulas – all the tools I use, AND keep my hands/arms up to my elbows protected from the heat. These are perfect – like any mitts thought, if the pot is hot enough you WILL be able to feel the heat a little through them, but I find that they work great – and the multi-dot pattern is very fun…

4Watch your thumb!
By Rosemary C.
I really like this Oven Mitt in most respects. I was surprised, however, when moving a baking sheet from the oven to feel heat coming through at the base of my thumb at the crease in the glove. This mitt is new, so it’s not from wear. In general, it provides excellent protection, but be careful not to let hot items slide into that crease all the way or you might suddenly find something is too hot to handle!
