Oxo Good Grips Zinc Winged Corkscrew

The OXO Good Grips Self-Pulling Corkscrew accommodates all wine bottles. Features an internal foil cutter with flexible, non-slip push tabs on the outside of the corkscrew that cut the foil as the user turns the bottle. Foil cutter broke

So far, I have had this long enough to open about a half dozen bottles of wine without incident. The foil cutter only works if you apply pressure. I applied enough pressure between my index finger and thumb to break it. The cutting wheel broke off the plastic spindle. The foil cutter is a good idea, but not functional for long as implemented.

Hidden design defect.

The corkscrew worked really well for a very short time. But because the connection between the screw and the top section is so weak, it failed after about the 10th bottle (and it was not abused). Some samples should last longer, but the design is so weak that failure is probably inevitable. Too bad – it was nice while it lasted.

Very Unique!

I purchased this wine glass for a friend of mine for her birthday and she absolutely loved it. The first glass I received was broken, but when I reported it to Amazon it was replaced promptly. The only reason I didn’t give this glass five stars is because it was a little pricey. All in all though I was very pleased with it.

Showed up Shattered

Bought this for my mother in law’s birthday and it showed up shattered. Guess they didn’t put fragile on the box or pack it for safe shipping? Not sure but it’s not all that impressive to buy a gift for someone that shows up broken. They are going to send her a new one but she has to return the broken one and deal with the hassle of it all.

MLB Sunglasses

Bought these so that I could wear them on a regular basis. I had them for 2 days and went to wipe off the lenses and the lense popped out of the frame. I was able to put back in but this is a regular occurance. Would not buy these as a functional pair of glasses, however, a nice piece of memorabilia.

Good Product!

This is a very inexpensive item but does not show it in the quality of the product. I bought this item because of the team emblem on the side. I was nervous to purchase sunglasses on-line due to not being able to try them on to see if they fit my face. But, these are very comfortable sunglasses and I am very happy with my purchase. I would suggest buying this item, especially since they have the NEW YORK YANKEES on the side.

Quick, easy to use, well made!

I bought the Cuisipro Apple Corer because my 3 year old loves apples, but refuses to eat them sliced, and it’s almost impossible to remove an apple core without hacking up the entire apple.

It works perfectly. The serrated edge (at the tip) allows you to easily puncture the apple, and a quick twist allows you to pull the entire core out. The corer opens, letting the core drop out–no digging it out with a pen or other instrument.

Also, there’s a 25 year warranty offered by Cuisipro–takes 30 seconds to fill out a form online and you are set in case of breakage or other problems.

The price is a little high for just an apple core, however, it is well crafted, not flimsy metal. You don’t have to worry about breaking/bending this on a hard Granny Smith. Well worth the price, in my opinion.

It seems to be a high quality gadget but – alas – it’s NOT

If I would left my review soon after I got this corer – as most customers do – it would be bright review with 5 stars as I liked this gadget a lot in the beginning. It makes right hole – not too small, not too big, you can get the apple core out of it with one slight motion, so I almost abandoned my old OXO corer that I used before.
But after about 3 months of regular use the inner spring that holds the metal parts together got really weak, and corer’s normal position became PERMANENTLY SLIGHTLY OPEN. All fun from using it immediately disappeared. In addition yesterday (after 3.5 months of use) one of the rivets popped out… so I’m coring apples again with my old good OXO gadget that I bought a few years ago.
Kind of disappointing experience, I’d not recommend you to buy Cuisipro Apple Corer if you are going to use it often.

UPDATE:
I was still using this corer from time to time when I needed to core an apple and my other corer happened to be in the dishwasher. So here is update: the inner spring got broken completely and fell out – all rusty. It’s not made of stainless steel for sure (which is weird for a spring). And rivet fell out again. Looks like this thing is falling apart after 4 months of use.
An example of good idea that failed b/c of bad implementation.

Works for my arthritic hands

This corer is beautifully designed: the shape of the handle allows pressure to be exerted easily. First one that’s worked for me, ever. If you twist as you press down, the bruising of the fruit is greatly minimized. The core release is another brilliant feature. Apples have gone from “chore” to “treat”!

A great favourite with champagne enthusiasts

A bought this product for friends many years ago and, as they are great travellers, they take it with them wherever they go.

Each time they open a bottle of champagne they raise their glass and send me a “Thank you” across the miles as they are so thrilled with it.

As a surprise I have bought a second one for them as a Christmas gift, as life would definitely not be worth living should they ever lose the one they have!!.

Perfectly adequate

These are perfectly reasonable glasses – there’s nothing wrong with them, and nothing special. The main thing I can think of to say is that you can successfully drink out of them. If ever anything needed exactly two and a half stars, it is these.

* Sturdiness: The glass is quite thin, and I’m a little worried about breaking them, although I haven’t yet. Of course, that could also be described as ‘delicate’ (not a plus in my house).

* Color: The color is not as pronounced as it is in the product shots; only the base and rim show much color. Someone saw me unboxing them and said, “Oh, are those acrylic?” And, yeah, that’s exactly the color of the blue and green ones, the color of acrylic picnic glasses.

* Overall look: In the pictures they look minimalist and modern; in person, the adjective that comes to mind is ‘utilitarian.’

I’ll give these away when I get around to getting something more interesting.
